What is a video intercom?
A video intercom system is a security technology that allows two-way communications. Usually, it is used within a building or collection of buildings that can provide access control and live monitoring. When a visitor requests property access, the intercom sends video and audio footage to a resident. This way, residents can visually confirm who’s requesting access before opening the door or gate.
It can be integrated with existing access control, CCTV, or security system. Remote access can also be available through residents’ smartphones.
The Advantages of a Video Intercom System
Being able to monitor any activity at your front door
Other than the obvious of seeing your visitors, you could see when the mail is delivered. It is also beneficial around the holidays if you shop online and have packages delivered.
Could be a deterrent to vandalism
The presence of video technology is great for deterring crime, no one wants to be caught on camera. Also helpful for catching vandals & thieves.
Ease and speed of use
It is very helpful if you are busy or have a hard time moving quickly, as you can look and press a button.
Most of the latest versions of video intercom systems can capture, store, and date-stamp images so that you can review them if the need ever occurs.
As we continue to face the global threat of COVID-19, every business needs an access control system to protect the public and help prevent the spread of the virus.
Easily verify the identity of visitors before they enter the property and discreetly report intruders or security threats.
This type of access control improves the physical security of the property's members.
